Asian American Studies Academy Office Hours - March 25

ABOUT: The inaugural Asian American Studies Academy, in partnership with Asian Texans for Justice, the Center for Asian American Studies (College of Liberal Arts) and Department of Curriculum & Instruction (College of Education), is intended for K-12 teachers to develop a greater understanding of Asian American history and experiences, with a particular focus on Texas Asian American history. Asian Americans are the fastest growing population in Texas, yet there are only two mentions of the Asian American experience in the K-12 social studies standards! In the AAS Academy, teachers will receive an introduction to Asian American history and develop humanizing stances towards Asian American students and families. The AAS Academy provides CPE (Continuing Professional Education) hours through the University of Texas at Austin.
